Jessie listened intently, and she couldn’t help but feel bad for the violet haired girl. She had the comfort of knowing that Buzz loved her back, totally and unconditionally. They were having a child together- what bigger statement of love was there than that? It must have been so…so painful for the person you love to be in love with someone else-

Jessie noticed in the corner of her eye how Raven glanced at her stomach, that frightened look. She knew that look. Was she pregnant with this boys child? Her heart sank lower in her chest, resisting an urge to reach out and embrace her.

“So…you’re running away to the city to escape?”

Raven tried to control her feelings by whispering her meditating words. “Actually i need to escape the city, I want to go back…but…I can’t. I can’t see his green eyes.” She thought of how if it wasn’t just a scare…what could have happened? Would she have stayed? Would he still love her? All the thoughts came racing back, the ones she was trying to avoid. The ice cream was melting in the bowl as the red head seemed to try to reach out. Jessie seemed to know better then to try to make physical contact with her which she appreciated.

Jessie finally let out a sigh and placed a hand on Ravens shoulder. She gave it a squeeze. “I’m sorry darlin’…M-maybe…maybe it’s a good idea though to go talk to him…” To Jessie, the issue seemed like something that needed to be discussed…desperately. But Raven was just a scared young girl..of course she ran.

Raven stared at Jessie’s hand and decided it was alright for her to put only hand on. She took a deep sigh and thought about it, everything they have been through, that scare. “Maybe i do…I’d have to go all the way back to the city. Titans tower.” She put her hand on her thin stomach. It would have been slightly bigger now, a small bulge. The dark haired girl never had a vision of kids in her future but after that day she had to take care of those kids….she didnt know. “H-how?”

“Oh…well…aheh.” Jessie rubbed the back of her neck awkwardly, trying to think of how she could explain this. This was always the hard part of meeting people, trying to explain the whole “I-used-to-be-a-toy-but-then-i-ran-away-with-my-boyfriend-and-we-found-a-sprite-who-turned-us-into-faries-so-we-could-turn-into-humans-and-then-we-turned-into-humans-thanks-to-Genie” thing…she tried to perhaps make it all..vague. “Well, I suppose you can say he…saved me. heh.” She smiled softly. “I was in a bad place before, and him and my-er- brother I guess got me out of there, and I lived with them for-well- a long time.”

Raven swallowed the rest of the chicken and felt well fed. She thought about her past and decided it was best that she didn’t ask her about that. “I can understand that. Everyone has complicated pasts. We just need to learn to not take what we have for granted.” She thought about what she just said. If only she could go back in time and mean those words. Maybe she would have never left, actually looked back at what she was leaving behind. Starfire and Robin would have been calling her up to go with Cyborg to a movie and Beast Boy….she couldn’t think of that, it hurt her too deeply. The thought of him…no. “Well i do appreciate your kindness. And the food.”

Jessie smiled warmly and gave a nod. “That’s definitely something I’ve learned in my years. She looked at the girl and grinned, wanting to be as kind as possible. “Oh darlin’ it was nothin’, really! Is there anythin’ else I can get you? Water, sweet tea, hot chocolate? I think i may have some Honey Lavender ice cream in the fridge…homemade.”

“Actually, that ice cream does sound good. I haven’t has a dessert in a while.” She smiled at the cowgirl. “I guess making friends isn’t as hard as i thought” Raven whispered to herself. Maybe she should go back. He might still be there….no, she couldn’t think of that, he probably left, maybe with Terra.

Grinning, Jessie nodded. “Well god- we need to get you some then now, don’t we?” She chuckled, and got up, getting the bowls and ice cream. As she mounded the lily colored cream into the bowls, she glanced over at Raven, wondering what exactly was the situation of this mysterious young lady was. sticking a spoon into the bowls, she put on a cheery smile and headed back to the couch, setting the bowl in front of here. “Here ya go darlin’! Hope ya like it.” She took a small bite of the ice cream, smiling at the smooth taste hither tongue. She then turned to Raven and tilted her head. “So…What’s in the city?”

Raven cocked a smile and appreciated the sweet treat. The cold bold felt refreshing against her warm hands during the blazing heat of the day. She was about to take a bite when she heard the question. Her face turned ruby, deep violet bangs fell over her face. Reluctantly she decided to let her in on the trouble, it wasn’t like her but she didn’t have anyone to tell. The spoon in her hand was put back in the bowl and she took a heavy sigh. “The is…a guy. He was one of my best friends but i always knew there was more.” She laughed slightly. “Even though he is one of the most annoying people i know. We…well we were in love. At least i thought we were. I never had these feelings for anyone else but I know he had them for another girl. She went away….kind of.” Glancing at the cowgirls belly, her heart skipped a couple beats. “I….I had to leave after a…problem occurred. I haven’t seen him since.”

She watched this soon to be mother stare off at the pictures and thought back to her own life. Her friends, their adventures and actions together. She couldn’t look at a piece of pizza without thinking about their memories. Raven slightly smiled, her dark blue clock wrapped around her arms and her deep purple hair pushed behind her ears. “Yeah…maybe. Anyway, I do appreciate you giving me some food. I haven’t been able to eat in a while. I flew off from my city to escape a bad experience. I left behind everyone but I’m trying to get back.” The smell of deep frying actually calmed her and made her think of home. Not the dark place that haunts her dreams which she use to call home. Her home in titan’s tower where all of her friends are smiling and welcoming her back. She could almost smell the waffles she ate every morning before meditating.

Jessie turned quickly around and frowned deeply. “Well Jesus, no wonder you’re so skinny-…well, I used to be that skinny… She looked down at her pregnant tummy and broke out into laughter. “Used to be!” She chuckled and picked up the platter, now filled with magnificent, golden brown, fried chicken. The southern belle sat down next to Raven, placing the platter in front of her. “I used to be able to do a lot of things- now, please, take as much as you like!”

Raven glanced at the platter and took a small piece. By that time, her hollow stomach was growling so loudly, she took a big bite. It was heaven in her mouth, finally some food to ease her nerves. “Thanks, this is really good. I haven’t eaten in anything in a while. I’ve been using mediation to keep my stomach at ease.” She decided she needed to take after her old friend and try to be more interested in a new person, create new friends. “So..” she started after wiping her mouth with the end of her cloak, “Boy or a girl?’

“Well thanks darlin’! People do always tell me I make the best southern food- i guess it’s just my roots.” She chuckled and was about to take a bite of the fried chicken leg before she noticed one thing missing- the sauce. She got up quickly, rushing to the refridgerator. Before one could blink an eye she was back on the couch, a bowl of orange sauce in hand, the concoction of 10 different types of hot sauce and buffalo sauce had a bold, spicey smell, and it made Jessie almost  squeal with excitement as she dunked the entire piece of chicken into it. She had eaten almost the entire piece of chicken when Raven asked her the question. She looked over at her with wide eyes and a bit of sauce on the left corner of her mouth before she smiled, swallowing the juicy piece of meat. She touched the corner of her smirk with her tongue, ridding it of the spicy stain.

“Girl!” She replied happily, chuckling. “The doctors haven’t confirmed it yet- but I know she’s a girl- we’re gonna name her Reilynn.”

Raven half smiled as she picked another small thick piece of chicken. She took smaller bites this time. Her throat felt a little dry but she didn’t want to ask for any more then she was already given. “That’s a nice name.” The red head country girl was so pleasing and for some reason, not at all annoying, she seemed to be bubbly but able to control how she used it. She might even have less of a temper then Raven did. It was getting hot inside so she unclasped her cloak and draped it over her chair. The blue leotard she wore kept her nice a cool. “So your husband, how did you two meet?”
